How to become a research peptide reseller
By WholesalePeptide.us · Published · Updated
To become a research peptide reseller, register a business and EIN, get a state resale certificate, open a wholesale account with a supplier that publishes lot-specific COAs, label every product for research use only, and sell only to buyers who will use it in a laboratory.
A research peptide reseller buys finished, tested research materials from a wholesale supplier and resells them to laboratories, universities, biotech groups and other research buyers. The business is a distribution business: margin comes from buying in kit quantities at tier pricing, holding inventory, and passing the supplier's documentation through to each customer. This guide covers the setup steps, the documents a supplier will ask for, how minimum orders and private label work at WholesalePeptide.us, and the lines a reseller should not cross.
How do I become a peptide reseller?
Most resellers complete the same seven steps before their first order. None of them are unusual for a chemical or laboratory-supply distributor, and most take days rather than weeks.
- Form a business entity. An LLC or corporation separates the business from personal assets and is what a supplier will invoice. The SBA's registration guide explains state filing.
- Get an EIN. The IRS issues an Employer Identification Number online at no cost; suppliers use it for invoicing and tax records.
- Get a resale (sales-tax) certificate from each state where you collect sales tax, so your wholesale purchases are not taxed twice.
- Write research-use-only terms of sale and a buyer acknowledgment. Your terms should match your supplier's: research use only, no human or veterinary use, no resale to individuals for personal use.
- Choose a documented supplier. Require a lot-specific Certificate of Analysis (COA), a named independent lab, and published pricing before you commit. See how to vet a wholesale peptide supplier.
- Open a wholesale account. At WholesalePeptide.us, the wholesale account application asks for the documents below and is reviewed in one business day.
- Set up storage, fulfillment and records. Lyophilized peptides are stored cold and dry; keep the lot number of every kit you ship so any COA question can be traced.
Documents a wholesale peptide supplier asks for
A supplier that asks for nothing is a supplier that is not checking who it sells to. Expect to provide the following, and expect a reputable supplier to keep them on file.
| Document | Why the supplier needs it | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Business entity filing | Confirms you are a business buyer, not an individual | Secretary of State |
| EIN confirmation (CP 575 or 147C letter) | Invoicing and tax records | IRS |
| Resale / sales-tax exemption certificate | Lets the supplier sell to you without charging sales tax | State revenue department |
| Signed research-use-only acknowledgment | Records that you and your customers will use material in a laboratory | Supplier's form |
| Website or catalog URL | Lets the supplier confirm products are presented for research only | Your business |
| Credit references (only for terms) | Needed if you apply for Net-30 rather than paying per order | Trade or bank references |
WholesalePeptide.us offers payment terms to qualified accounts: Net-30 is available to qualified laboratories and distributors after account review. New resellers usually pay per order (crypto (BTC, ETH, SOL, TRX, USDT and USDC on Ethereum, Tron, BNB Smart Chain, Arbitrum, Solana and Polygon), Venmo) until a payment history exists.
Where do peptide sellers get their products?
Research peptides are made by solid-phase peptide synthesis, purified by preparative HPLC, lyophilized, and filled into vials. Very few resellers synthesize anything themselves. Most buy finished, vialed kits from a wholesale supplier; a smaller number buy bulk powder and contract a fill operation, which moves testing, labeling and lot control onto the reseller.
- Wholesale kits (the common model): the supplier tests each lot, publishes the COA, and ships finished vials. The reseller's job is inventory, customer service and documentation pass-through.
- Bulk powder plus contract fill: lower unit cost at large volume, but the reseller owns fill accuracy, sterility of handling, labeling and retesting. See bulk peptides for quantities above the top kit tier.
- Private label: finished kits carrying the reseller's brand, with the same lot testing behind them. See private label peptides.
Whichever model you choose, ask where the material is synthesized, where it is filled, and where it ships from. Each step is a place where documentation can break. Our comparison of U.S. and overseas peptide sourcing covers the trade-offs.
Minimum order and pricing for resellers
WholesalePeptide.us sells in kits of 10 vials, one compound and one strength per kit. The minimum order is one kit. Published pricing drops at 3, 10 and 50 kits, with the largest instant discount of 15%, and orders of 100 kits or more are quoted individually. Every tier is listed on the wholesale price list, so a reseller can model margin before opening an account.
A practical way to start is a mixed first order across a few compounds your customers already ask for, then move individual compounds up a tier as demand proves out. Our guide to wholesale peptide pricing works through the per-vial math.
Private label for research peptide brands
Private label means the vial and kit labels carry your brand while the material, testing and lot records come from the supplier. At WholesalePeptide.us the private-label minimum is 10 kits per compound. Labels must carry the lot number, the strength, storage conditions and the research-use-only statement; the COA for that lot remains available so your customers can verify it. Read more on the private label peptides page, and see what we require of brand partners on our resellers and brands page.
Do I need a license to sell peptides?
There is no single federal "research peptide reseller" license. What applies depends on what you sell, how you describe it, and who you sell it to. A general business license and a sales-tax registration are almost always required; anything presented for human use falls under drug law, which is a different business entirely. We cover this in detail, with primary sources, in do you need a license to sell research peptides.
What a research-use-only reseller must not do
Under federal law, a product's intended use is judged from its labeling, advertising and the circumstances of sale, not from a disclaimer alone. A reseller that adds a research-use-only line to a page that otherwise describes human use has not changed what the product is. Keep the whole business consistent:
- Describe compounds by chemistry, registry identity and published literature only.
- Do not publish use instructions, amounts for people or animals, or outcome claims, and do not answer customer questions about personal use.
- Do not sell to individuals who say they intend personal use; cancel and refund those orders.
- Keep For laboratory research use only. Not for human or veterinary use. on every label, product page, invoice and packing slip.
- Pass through the supplier's COA for the exact lot shipped, not a generic sample COA. Every WholesalePeptide.us lot is listed in the COA library.
WholesalePeptide.us applies the same rules to its own accounts. We do not supply anyone who represents our products for human or veterinary use, and we close accounts that do. The research use only policy sets out the terms every buyer accepts.
A reseller launch checklist
| Item | Done when |
|---|---|
| Entity, EIN, resale certificate | All three documents are on file |
| RUO terms and buyer acknowledgment | Published on your site and attached at checkout |
| Supplier vetted | Lot COA, named lab and published tiers confirmed |
| Wholesale account approved | Approval email received and pricing tier visible |
| Storage | Cold, dry, dark storage with a temperature log |
| Lot records | Every outbound kit traceable to a lot code and its COA |
When those six rows are done, you are ready to buy wholesale peptides at kit pricing and resell them to research customers. If you have questions about documents or tiers, the team at wholesale@wholesalepeptide.us answers during Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM ET.
Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum order for a new reseller?
WholesalePeptide.us has a minimum order of one kit. Kits contain 10 vials of one compound at one strength, and pricing drops at 3, 10 and 50 kits.
Can I put my own brand on the vials?
Yes. Private label is available from 10 kits per compound. Labels keep the lot number, strength, storage conditions and the research-use-only statement, and the lot COA stays available for your customers.
Do I need a resale certificate to buy wholesale?
You need one to buy without paying sales tax on goods you will resell. Without it, the supplier must charge sales tax where required. Certificates are issued by your state revenue department.
How long does wholesale account approval take?
Applications with complete documents are reviewed in one business day. Incomplete applications are returned with a list of what is missing.
