Bacteriostatic Water — wholesale 10-vial kits
Bacteriostatic Water is supplied by WholesalePeptide.us in 10-vial kits of 3 or 10 mL sterile solution. Every lot is tested by an independent third-party laboratory (RP-HPLC purity and LC-MS identity); A lot-specific Certificate of Analysis is published before the lot ships. List price for 3 mL is $130.00 per kit ($13.00 per vial), with discounts at 3, 10 and 50 kits and a quote from 100 kits. Minimum order is one kit. Research use only; not for human or veterinary use.

Research context
Bacteriostatic water is the reconstitution reagent most research peptide laboratories keep on the shelf. It is sterile water with 0.9% (w/v) benzyl alcohol added as a preservative. Benzyl alcohol does not sterilize; it is bacteriostatic, meaning it inhibits the growth of bacteria introduced when a vial's stopper is punctured repeatedly. That is the practical difference from plain sterile water, which is intended for single use once opened.
In the lab it is used to dissolve lyophilized peptides to a working stock concentration. Because the vial is multi-use, one vial can serve several reconstitutions over a working period, which suits teams preparing stocks from many different research peptides. Concentration is set by the volume added: for example, adding 2.0 mL to a vial containing 10 mg of peptide gives a nominal 5 mg/mL stock, corrected for the lot's net peptide content (see purity vs net peptide content).
It is not the right solvent for every peptide. Benzyl alcohol can interfere with some assays, notably cell-based and enzyme assays sensitive to small alcohols, and some hydrophobic or aggregation-prone peptides need a different solvent or a small amount of co-solvent before dilution. Where the preservative is a concern, sterile water or an assay buffer is used instead and the stock is aliquoted and frozen. Our guide to storing lyophilized research peptides covers aliquoting and storage.
This item is offered in 3 mL and 10 mL vials, 10 vials per kit, as a laboratory reagent. It is sold for laboratory research use only.
Research areas
- reconstitution of lyophilized research peptides
- preparing multi-use working stocks
- solvent selection for peptide solubility
Handling and storage
- Store sealed vials at controlled room temperature, protected from light.
- Swab the stopper before each puncture and use a sterile technique for every withdrawal.
- Record the first-opened date on the vial and follow your laboratory SOP for in-use shelf life.
- Do not use if the solution is cloudy or contains particles.
Bacteriostatic Water wholesale FAQ
Can I buy bacteriostatic water wholesale?
Yes. bacteriostatic water is sold in 10-vial kits (3 mL or 10 mL per vial) with a minimum order of one kit. Published price breaks apply at 3, 10 and 50 kits, and orders of 100+ kits are quoted. See wholesale pricing. Supplied for laboratory research use only.
What is the difference between bacteriostatic water and sterile water?
Both are sterile. Bacteriostatic water also contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which inhibits bacterial growth after the stopper is punctured, so a vial can be used for several withdrawals. Plain sterile water has no preservative and is intended for single use once opened.
Can bacteriostatic water be used for every peptide?
Not always. Benzyl alcohol can interfere with some cell-based and enzyme assays, and some hydrophobic peptides need a different solvent. Where the preservative is a concern, use sterile water or an assay buffer and aliquot and freeze the stock.
How is Bacteriostatic water shipped?
Bacteriostatic water ships in sealed vials via UPS / USPS, tracked. Orders paid by 2:00 PM ET Monday–Friday are dispatched the same day. We ship to U.S. addresses only. Details are on the shipping page.
